Yay Yay Yay... Ive Waited So Long For This

Ok, sooo... after like 15 failed times i have a spawn!!! Doesnt seem to be too many eggs in there but im not too confident as is both their very first spawn, also its my first spawn!!! i put them together last night.... nest this morning... fed them up on pellets then i released the female. Check about 5 minutes ago and they are embracing yay!!! Omg... i better get a microworm culture from somewhere... eek so much to do so little time

Congrats! It's so exciting to have all your hard work pay off, and soooooooooo much fun having fry. If you're in a tight pinch, you can always hatch some brine shrimp until the culture arrives. Good luck!

Thanks! ive got to find some brine shrimp eggs... and cheap. Just spent all my cash on my gecko so i wouldnt mind if anyone has a teaspoon or two to spare?? or a microworm culture

if you're in an even bigger pinch, and it sounds like you are, you can try some sort of liquifry. I did that once...I had a great daddy that watched me put it in the tank and he just spit his little babies right up to the area so they could eat...you can take a toothpick and put a little on the tip of it...then dip the tip by the dad so he can see what you're doing. He may not even have any in his mouth, and in that case, try to do it near enough so that the fry will see, yet far enough so you don't scare them half to death...do this in small amounts as you don'twant to fowl the water. That stuff is pretty cheap...around 1 to 3 bucks. Good luck! And research other ways, like using egg, etc. Even if you got a microworm culture, it takes a while to get started...you'll still need an alternative unless you get a huggggge shipment (ewww).

Huge shipment?? lol i have liqui-fry 2. Well i might not soon but i could do the egg yolk attempt. But ill get a ready done microworm culture. So its easy to do for that. I think this is good but the male and female are about 5cm away from achother and just wiggling in one place like in an S motion. She is doing this while she is barred up really well and he is building a nest. He is chasing her around and adding to his nest. (BTW - that wiggling all happened before the spawning. Was that a good thing or just something random they do?)

Jus a quick update. The male who is now named PLANK keeps stunning himself.. although i think i can see a few eggs coming out sometimes.. female is getting restless as he keeps swimming off. I dont know what the male is doing, if its with th eggs or not but he keeps sticking his head in the bubbles and stuff i tink its the eggs. Sorry if dont make much sense tonight but im very very xcited

The female looks like my new one, Nyx. Except Nyx is just a little bit darker. What tail types are they?

The male is a traditional PK and the female is a halfmoon. i hope to start a halfmoon plakat line out of it will be a funny coloured line though as the male came from an LFS

well a quick update, my guys gone kapoot. He goes to pick eggs off the floor then see's his reflection in the floor so he starts flaring. theres a load of eggs on the floor so i dont know what is going on. The female was hiding in the java moss at the other side of the tank this morning so i took her out she is now in a 1 gallon with salt and a bit of meth blue for her fins etc or anything she may have got from stress. They actually started embracing at 5:00PM GMT but finished After i went to bed. And i went to bed at 11:00PM GMT. So i dont knonw how long they went for. As i said, aload of eggs on the floor but he picks them up, i dont see any chewing then he flares like crazy on the floor lol. I hope some eggs made it up there
