2 weeks ago I went to my lfs and the guy behind the counter (owners son) was selling his 72 x 18 x 24" clearseal tank, with stand for £100. I didnt have the money so passed on it but I Just went to lfs on Saturday and he said he hasnt sold it and said he would drop the price to £50 so I snatched it up, its a clearseal tank with the proper clearseal wood stand and hood, its 90 UK Gallons and comes pre drilled with a sump!!!!!! and free delivery all for £50 bargain eh???

Oh happy day, oh happy day.........

Nice pick up!!! I hope i can find a few deals like that once the fish house is finished and ready for furnishing with tanks.

CFC, I know it's a way for you, but Wickford Aquatics in Essex is great. They sold a 4X2X2 for £60 yesterday and have a 6X2X2 on sale for £90. That and some fantastic custom size second hand tanks for really cheap prices.

Well done on the tank Technium, but I make that around 112 UK gallons (though I suppose the useful volume may be nearer that). I'd like a new bigger tank but I'll have to wait for a bigger house :D

Nice one, thats quite the bargain!

If only i could find another large, drilled and sumped tank locally

Thanks andywg, those sound like very good prices since the cheapest i can get a 6x2x2 locally is £200 but unfortunately picking up a tank that size from Essex and then bringing it back would probably work out costing the same by the time ive hired a van (works van is a flat bed tipper, not ideal for transporting fragile glass tanks ) and paid fuel.

Since the tanks im going to be getting are not going to be seen by anyone but me i am looking into the possibilty of having glazed fiberglass tanks where only the front pane is glass and the rest are all solid, these should work out a lot cheaper and be lighter than glass tanks which means i can stack them easily. At least 1 8x3x2 and a pair of 6x3x2's are definately in the eventual plan.

Another cheap option is- http://www.meraquatica.co.uk/ I'm getting my newest adition from them and they quoted me £130 for a 4x2x2 tank although i don't get why the sumps going to be £90 :/

Plumbing is a major bumber if you need to plumb alot of tanks with sumps though.

I wont be using sumps for filtration, all the filters for the fish house will be home made air powered internal filters with large eheims as additional filtration on the tanks that need them.

internal air powered filters.....hmmmm would never of thought that would work for most of your fish!!

Why not? As long as they hold enough media to support the bacteria colonies any filter can be used for any fish. My home made filters are made from 2 litre tupaware juice containers and filled with Eheim substrat pro and foam.

Ah ha, i had in my mind the air driven sponge filters.

Have you also seen tank that have about 3 inch partioned off at 1 side? When I took visit to the shops fish suppliers he had alot of tanks like this with alfagrog and foam in the sides, I guess it was air driven as there weren't any power cables about.

I'm currently maturing 5ltr of substrat pro for when Cookie arives!!

sorry we'ved diverted it away from your new tank tech, what monsters will you be putting in this one?

no probs Paul, good to see CFC out and about.

Not sure about the tank, may not keep it, it was too good a bargain to just leave there but going to struggle for room so may offer parents it to start them off. if they dont want it then who knows :dunno:
