Eggs still there this morning, a couple have turned white, hopefully others won't follow. i left the moonlight on last night, thought it might help them keep an eye on their eggs.

Thanks for the info angelmouse,

So how big is the tank?
And how many Discus do you have ?
Did you buy a pair or group to pair up?

Although it still "someday fish" for me, since RO is the key word to Discus keeping it seems. And I need to get one before even think about keeping big D. Although I do have empty 4'55G tank right now.

Good, they still have eggs. I'm sure the moonlight helped. What other fish and how many in it anyway. I thought parents are suppose to eat bad eggs or was it Angels. Anyway, if they don't you might have to so the bad eggs won't ruin the good eggs. I'm sure someone else can coment on this.

Or maybe need to put some fungucide in it although that may not be the best solution in the community tank.

Anyway, first spawn is always fun and exciting to see for me.

Eggs all been eaten tonight, i expected it but still disapointed. At least i know i have a pair now and might set up breeding tank for them.
Neoncory tank is 55g, i got 5x 3" discus 5-6mths ago and also have 2 blue rams,1 gold ram,2 apistogramma agassizi a shoal of cardinals and a bn(it is also temporally holding two baby angels) its abit over stocked at mo but the angels and gold ram and bn are going in other tank next week unless i use it for a breeding tank.
i live in thames water area so have very hard water and needed r/o. you might not need one if your water is soft?

I'm sorry to hear that angelmouse,

Then again, I read that usually they need few try to get it right. And first spawn doesn't have good hatch. Not to mention, all the tankmates. It could be the parents that ate the eggs. I read that if too many activities going on at their surroundings, they sometime get stressed or irritate and decide it is not time to raise family and recycle.

So I difinately think you should give them their own tank. I read the bigger than 20G is better but 20 High is the minimum for the breeding pair which you have.

Please let us know how it goes.

It's so attempting you mention the 55G and all, but I think I need to wait. And hopefully, I can spawn the Angels first and gain some c*childs experience. And I will try to get some Blue Rams also which I know the lady in my aquarium society have been doing. Beside I have few other fish I would like to get and breed. Most likely, next fish would be Rainbow Emperor Tetras I saw at the local store for first time. And maybe Albino Sterbai Corydoras which I have to mail order(since don't see them locally) but I now have confident since I have been raising frys of regular Sterbai.
Not to mention, I have Blue Tetras, Gold Neon Tetras, Angels, Albino Bristlenose, Rainbow Emperor Tetras and Regular Neon Tetras(I can never have enough of these) to breed. I know some need to grow first but I have enough breeding projects.

So someday couold be for a while but I WILL get some Discus someday. :good:

Eggs infected with fungus will spread to near by eggs.

Yes, but not dead white ones. I wouldnt add methleyne blue anyway. Ruins the look of your tank and then you gotta use carbon to take it out. 8 days later you have a normal tank. Not worth it.

Myslef, I would leave the pair in the community for a while as they will become a stroner pair :good:
