Today i have received my Juwel Rekord 800. I am very disappointed with it as i had all set in my head that i was going to buy a fluval U3 and keep my existing heater to put on a slope on the back wall of the tank, with the u3 on the left,
however the suppplied juwel filter is siliconed onto the right hand side of the tank, by at least 10 big blobs of silicone. Surely you should have the option of removing the huge filter. I just presumed that they were removable, as i saw pictures of the tank without the filter on it.
Also the heater supplied doesn't tell you what temperature you are setting the water at?
im also worried about cleaning the algae off the sides where the filter sits, as it can't come off to clean the glass it touches.

would you go to the effort of changing the filter now before the water goes in?

thanks for any replies

oh yes, i have a rio 400 decided to change whilst there were fish etc in the tank and made sooo much mess, do it before it gets messy!!! change it for some sort of external tho as all internals are ugly hence why i would hedge a bet that 3/4 of juwel owners on here don't have their original filter.

I would whip the razor blade out and get rid of it! If its annoying you now, think of the anger when the tank is full and you decide to remove it!! :X

i have left mine in my juwel vision 260 but alot of people remove them, usely with a decorating knife also they sell well on ebay.

Update:
It's off yay!!
Used a Stanley knife but then it snapped in half.. then swapped to a kitchen knife to stab at the rest, then sliced 99% of the residue off.

Already i feel so much better about it ! :hyper:

cannot wait until its set up so i can get endlers.
