OK here's the story....I've been out of uni after graduating now since the summer.....(i took illustration)....lately all I prefer doodling is bettas, wondering, if I spent the time doing up some nice canvasses if you reakon there's a market for them?
I'll attach a couple of drawings i've done....i verge a little on the fantasy side of bettas also....and have not done colour experiementing yet but I plan to, forgive the shots they are off my phone, need to scan them in really!

That sort of thing...but obviously on canvas and with i guess or without colour....just wondered what people thought!

id buy one if i reckoned it was cool. fantasy art does nothing for me personaly, but i know some that would appreciate it.

id like a scene of two pks flaring one another, that would be kinda cool, mabey even one black and one white, circling each other, sort of a yin and yan

I only meant by fasntasy that i like to over emphasis the fins and stuff....obviously on a PK there's not much call for this :)
that is a pretty cool idea...ying and yang :)
my two rats are a little like that ones black and the other is champagne :D hehe
do you reakon this sort of thing would go on ebay?

i've said it before, but i really love the first one.
i think that done in colour on canvas would look amazing. preferably done on one of those box edged canvases so no need for a frame. i think they would sell really well and that applies to minni3 too
she was saying she wouldn't sell them because buyers expect perfection, but i think if you paint it and put it up for sale it would go.

if you were trying to do commissions of peoples specific bettas then people might say it didn't look EXACTLY like them, but as a general betta pic i'm sure most betta enthusiasts would jump at the chance, they would say oh that has colors just like mine etc.

lol yeh i knew what you ment by fantasy, and its not the kinda think i like, i like stuff thats true to life. but thats just me :p

i rekon it could sell, mabey not for alot, certainly not at first, but you could build up a reputation if they are good enough, and eventualy they would sell for more. its an idea certianly, and if you enjoy creating betta art :good:

hehe thanks.....obviously it's like pet portraits, of which i've only ever done my mum's horses for her.
I'd be worried about screwing it up I think with that sort of thing.....but yeah probably safer just making it about no particular fish, just as a piece of art :)
I'm thinking of doing the same for veedub beetles and campers too, i've got one on my wall that I gave to my other half for valentines a couple of years ago, people always telling me I should do more and shift those....obviously a bit ofa bigger niche market for those over bettas.

And I agree with you blue_betta at the moment my life's all about building up a reputation...so far not doing badly....I won a place in the Association of Illustrators "Images 32" annual where they showcase work, and a local arts magazine is doing a whole article on my work.....so I just need to keep building on it!

Maybe with bettas i should just bombard lots of different forums as selling....or doing to commission to sell, and I like mini's idea about doing competitions too, I'd do something like that.....obviously for moeny's sake you couldn't do it for every piece, but it would be a nice way to again build up a reputation :)

there good drawings i'd buy them but the main factor is ammount of money i have thats why i dont buy art cant afford :(

it is a bummer, small drawings like those i've shown would obviously be a lot less than a canvas, i think they are more suitable for maybe doing a work specific to somebody, as they are more affordable, and can be smaller and more 'personal' if that makes sense?!
