Have had substantially high readings of Nitrates for a few weeks now. It had dropped momentarily before rising again.
300L freshwater Tank test readings:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40 (or could be 80 since the red is hard to distinguish on the API test card)
PH 6.8
The current stocking:
- 8 Rummynoses
- 8 White Clouds
- 6 Cories
- 5 Yoyos
- 5 Clowns
Haven't had a problem with the fish and they are eating well and swimming healthily.
Have been doing 15% water changes twice a week - should I do more frequent water changes and more % each time to get Nitrates down?
The LFS recommended Seachem Prime, said it will help decrease Nitrates in no time...is this true? I wasn't sure so I wanted to check first, since it was actually quite expensive.
I am currently using the Aqua Plus water conditioner (by Hagen) and the tank has been running for 2 months
I haven't had any dead fish in the tank or anything that is rotting so I don't know why I can't keep Nitrates down.
