hi, just wondering wot sort of thing you guys feed your oscars, i have 2 oscars around 9" and feed the jbl nocostick xl, i think they need a bit more variety.
hi, i used to have oscars many years ago and apart from the above they love cockroaches, delivered fresh from a guy i used to know on the council when i lived in wales, some might think thats weird but they where pure proteen and did they grow just had to vack a little bit more but was well worth the effert
Cichlid pellets (floating and sinking variety), Bloodworm, shrimp, cockle, mussel, prawns (yes from the supermarket - Defrost first if frozen), garden worms, mealworms, Peas, cucumber, tuna, they will eat pretty much anything.
I feed mine Hikari Cichlid Gold (baby pellets now, but ill get the bigger pellets next time as he swallows them whole now), Tetra Doromin Cichlid, bloodworm, krill, prawn, river shrimp and he has some algae wafers and tropical pellets put in for my other fish.
He will try just about anything put in, but you must give them a varied diet, and make sure they get a good staple pellet which contains vitamin C.
mine eat hikari cichlid pellets and i also feed them frozen bloodworm, prawns, mussels, cockles, mealworm(dried),lugworms and even spiders.............yes spiders if i find any largish spiders i drop them on the water surface and as the spider walks along the surface the oscars watch it for a few seconds then they pounce
mine have even been known to eat peas and peeled grapes
