Woops Quick Ideas/help Needed

Ok had my 30L set up for a few weeks now, all parameters are fine and i have a few lamp eyes/guppys and some radom babie fish i found inside my main tank.

Last nite transfered my fish over to the main aquarium and everythings fine in there, there settling in well and the tetras seem to of adopted the lamp eyes.

Anyway of i went this morning to pick up my Dwarf puffer got home and everything was great, went to change the water and decided to tidy up the sand a bit (BRIGHT WHITE SILICA), anyway thought to myself il clean that however i cleaned it and dropped 50% of it down the sink not paying attention (new baby boy in the house...........) anyway got no sand left now so im looking for some quick ideas what to replace it with would gravel be better im thinking of going for brown sand as white was a nightmare to keep clean and white, especially with my bog wood still leeching 6/8 weeks after it was first immersed in a bucket

so what wouyld be better for a puffer sand or gravel ? ive got the plants etc all ready to go in and asi said the tank WAS cycled and the filters just running in my main tank now for the afternoon.

Ideas and Suggestions for a nice puffer scape please ASAP

You want to create a mentally challenging "maze" for the puffer, using lots of plants as well as over bits of furniture like tunnels. A bored puffer will do the equivalent of "mad cow disease," buzzing up and down the same stretch of glass!

As for the substrate, I've no idea if gravel would be a problem...

yer i got some rocks here, some plants and a few pieces of bogwood, so im hoping that should look ok, i really liked the white gravel but its a pain, im thinking of just getting some normal coloured sand but as this tanks right next to my desk im looking to make it aesthetically pleasing as possible.

sad thing is im having to goto Pets at Home............ not the greatest selection tbh.

Assuming its a dwarf puffer (in a 30L I would guess it is), then sand would be better, as they have delicate skin, get some kids playsand ,argos do a large 15kg bag for less than £3, you obviously wont need it all in a 30L, but with a young kid in the house, come summer they will have some safe sand to play with.

Agree with Minxfishy -Argos playsand is cheap and safe. Most of us use it. Just make sure you rinse it a few times before adding it to your tank
