Will Variatus Breed With Platies

I am thinking about buying some very beautiful variatus at my LFS to add to my platy tank. My question here is if the variatus will breed with my platies since I am trying to raise the fry to sell. Any information on if they will breed and if the fry will turn out mutated like endlers/guppy fry do will be great.

i have no idea if theyll be mutated, but if a platy and a platy meet up, and want to mate, they will.

I know platies will breed with any other type of platy and the babies will not be mutated. But the variatus is not actually a platy but rather a very close cousin.

oh cause i looked it up and it said it was a platy
