Will red tiger lotus grow like this ?

Unfortunately I can't plant the bulb in the sand because my corys dig them up and they also dig the root tabs up

I eventually killed it by not really understanding the plant but it took forever for my red tiger lotus to root as my rope fish seemed to use it for soccer practice. The beastie would constantly push it all over the tank.

Here is when it first started on march 15 and here it is today. By the way it's a 20 gallon tank.

Looking good but you may want to add a bit of iron supplement to bring out more of the red.
