Will Plants Grow In Sand?

thanks guys -
well i have just over 2WPG and deep layer of sand. ill start dosing liquid ferts this weekend and see how it goes
my fish are still settling in (5 rummy nose, 6 corydoras sterbai, 4 corydoras "other")

I have had no problem growing plants is Homebase play sand. I run another tank using a peat base and the rate of growth between the two has never been too different. Compacted sand without water circulation will of course restrict nutrients from the roots but trumpet snails will aerate the sand

But since you have corys they will help aerate the sand for you. Sand looks alot better then gravel imo
