Will Cucumber Foul Your Water

Just a thought but how were these filters matured? new tank syndrome always comes to mind when i hear "cloudy water"
especially considered the bioload on this system,

and to answer your original Question, - No

Had to go back to see what the original question was,... but, yea... that's the answer I'm interested in... All three filters had been in operation for at least 6 months.... Well cycled and matured... (I would think)

when i feed my fish cucumber i leave the cucumber in till its all gone. i put in a inch thick slice in my 70 litre tank, it made the water cloud very slightly after about 3 days but within 24 hours the cloudy water was clear again.

my 180 litre tank normally has 2 inch thick slices in and they can be in the tank for up to 6 days. there has never been any clouding in this tank.

the water parameters in both my tank are fine and i havent lost any fish for a good 6 month and that was down to 2 males fighting for a female.

I put whole uncut cucumbers into my tanks and leave them over night and have never experienced a problem like that.

Could be the 90% water change.

Maybe you stirred up some nasties in the substrate?

But no, there's no chance it was the cucmber. Its 95% water itself, plus some cellulose. Its just a bit of plant!

And in that much water, you could probably add a bottle of vodka and do very little damage!

Uhm!!??... A whole bottle??.... Uhm??.

Take one jug of water, one slice of cucumber, combine, show them to the manageress after 24hrs. I think at that point she will have to agree that the cucumber did not make the water go cloudy :)
