We recently decided that as our 54L Betta/Neon Tetra tank didnt have real plants in it that we would swap the sand for gravel for easier cleaining.

Now on the day we decided to do this we were picking up my 7yr old nephew for a spot of overnight babysitting. Upon picking him up we decided to go straight to the pet store for the gravel (he's very mildly autistic not so you would notice but we had got him the new Ben 10 xbox game for xmas and I knew once we got him home we didnt have a prayer of getting him back out lol) We picked a fairly standard pale blue gravel and asked him if he wanted to pick something. He picked various nasty looking plants before he turned round and noticed the ornament section.

Thats when it happenend

After Ben 10 his favourite cartoon is Scooby Doo and he noticed they had a Scooby Doo Haunted House & the Mystery Machine so after a brief attempt to disuade him we gave in and bought them so heres what my poor beta and neons now have to put up with  To make it worse I then had to buy blue/green gravel to match the Mystery Machine

I'd like to apologise to the entire fishkeeping community, my family and especially Tade the beta and the Neons  I'm very sorry

Kids are great, my daughter wanted spongebob decor in the QT tank.

Haha, this is quality. I actually hate these types of things and can't understand who in there right mind would 'want' these in their tank. Then after reading this story it actually makes sense. None of us 'want' them, its for when our kids/nieces/nephews/grand-kids point out and say "oooh pwease, but but...for me?". Sad but true, and in that sense it actually makes them slightly appealing.

Hey, i said slightly appealing. I love your little story, and i think your betta will love it too. Atleast untill the novelty wears off ;)

your tank would have been fine if it wasn't for those pesky kids :hey:

I wanted a Spongebob pineapple house in one of my tanks and I'm 42!

My boyfriend wouldn't let me..

OP the mystery machine is pretty cool, I hope your nephew gets a lot of pleasure from the tank.

 Gotta love Scooby Doo!! I'm sure your Betta will too.

We had to get a lawn chair for our tank b/c our daughter saw a cute fish 'resting' ;) (it was really dying) in a lawn chair in the For Sale tank. She also wanted the 'resting' fish, so I was happy to get out of the store with just an ugly plastic chair.

We had to endure "STINGRAY" in one of our tanks. Wouldn't of minded if Marina was in it ( I've never kept mermaids before) - just glad the kids didn't have thunderbird 4 (basically a naff yellow escort van)
The tank ended up looking like Norman Bates back yard pond
