Why Was My Fantail Attacked By My Other Fish.?

favorite this site. u need serious support my man....

PS.. brown flat fish don't clean the tank. it eats algae. not poo. u have to feed em algae wafers.

If you follow the very good advice that's been given on this site, you won't have to be shopping around to replace dead goldfish. All the fish you have grow to at least 1 ft long and make masses of waste. If you're sticking with the tank you have, they all need to go back to the shop or be rehomed and replaced with something much more suitable like one siamese fighting fish aka betta :good:

just to make sure..

is that the brown flat fish u were talking about?

where about r u anyways..

i got an 3foot (140L) fluvel tank with fluvel filter & media , day light tube, fluvel tronic heater. for £80.

i am in s/london.

I don't want to sound mean but if you can't build a pond for the single tails and get a 30gallon tank for the fantails to live in alone, get a 30 gallon and take the single tails back or just build a pond and take the fantails back then i would take both types back. I hope that was understandable.

Guys, I don't think you/we all need to keep repeating the same point over n over. The OP has
1. Had the problems that will/could arise explained.
2. Had various solutions explained.
3. Been presented with all the information neccesary to make a proper informed choice.

I really don't think anything else needs adding unless they ask more questions.

Nice Tank.. whats the fish in ya profile picture, looks nice.

Thanks, it's a bolivian ram.

Have you decided what your plan of action is yet Steveukguy?
hi, well a Pond is out the question..
We will have to invest in a bigger tank in a few weeks time as cash is tight right now, when we get a bigger tank i will put the fish in the AquaOne tank into the Newer bigger tank, and the 2 fantails into the AquaOne M300 Tank once the others have a new home., i now have to look into what size tank to buy for the Goldfish ect , maybe a 6-9 foot tank.? Depending on the costs of course.

I also like to say that since the 2 Tailfish was put together, as stated above they seemed happy with each other untill later today one was chaseing the other around alot, now the one that was being chased keeps going up to the top of the water, and only time to time swims down.. I cant see no bite marks or anythink but some of the whiteness he had has gone black, not sure if color change or what? but i will keep a eye on them thoughtout the night to see if anythink else happens. The other FanTail that was doing all the chaseing has stopped chaseing it now. I not sure if the one that was chaeing is pregnate or not as it keeps digging up the gravel and it does look a bit fat..???

I am glad to read you will be getting a bigger tank, but the Aqua One will not be big enough for the fantails - not even one of them. Best to return your single tail fish and concentrate on the bigger tank for just the fantails really.

I cant return the single tails as they was a gift i now hear.. the Fantails and the gold fish i brought myself..
i might buy 2 bigger tanks if i can find some cheap enough

As of the fish i think might be pregant im talking about the fish in this picture near the plant.
Itss belly is looking big and roundish to me, and it keeps moving the gravel around.

i would not recommend tank size of six to nine foot right now.

what i would recommend is a nice lovely tropical setup? far more attractive then cold water., plus by the time u go for bigger tank u will be well experienced.
