In our house we have many tanks, 2 of which concerned are planted with real plants.

One is a 35 litre and the other is a 180. Now my 180 always struggles as far as plants go and they always die off a slow death whereas in the 35 litre they just explode within a week and need cutting back just so you can see in there.

Neither have Co2 injections or anything, just literally put in and left to it and if anything the 180 has probably 4/5 times more water changes than the smaller one.

So why do they always do so well in the little tank?

are the lighting and filtration the same and aeration

are the ph water hardness and temperature the same

if everything is the same here

then stock your tank to the same capacity per litre

the height to length ratio maybe to small

oh yeah and the bigger one should have less changes not more

Yes.............I think so

Without knowing what plants you are planting, how you are planting them, the fish in the tanks, and the turnover of water and lighting on each tank...can only make blind guesses that may answer your question.

If you want plants to grow better in the 180, you should post pics and tank details.
