Why did 2 of our fish die after refreshing the tank one we just got 2 days and the other was about a year old

You might want to try posting this in the appropriate section with a few more details. You'll probably get more responses There are lots of reasons why they could have possibly died. Perhaps the new one brought in some parasites or the water change was too large?

did you match the temperature of the new water to that of the tank? When doing a very large water change, this is important

Did you de-chlorinate the water beforehand?
