Hello there!
Me and my friend have the same fish in a tank, we have a wide variety of, Mollies, Platys, Guppies in our tanks.

They go through the whole process of 'sexing' up the female fishies, but the female fish dont seam to progress from it e.g. become pregnant.

Is there a reason why they aren't getting pregnant and having babies?

Our water is perfect, the right PH level and everything.

Its just odd that they suddenly stopped having babiess!

Anyone know of a reason?

What are your water parameters? How long has the tank been set up?

Im not sure on the exacts on mine, i just know it is a 304L tank (apparantly). Mine has been set up for near on a year, and my friends, well i dont know, shes had hers AGES!
But both of our fishies have bred and gave birth several times and they've just stopped.

My biggest clue is when you said this "we have a wide variety of, Mollies, Platys, Guppies in our tanks". To have a wide variety tells me that there are lots of fish in the tank. With high adult populations, you will seldom find a surviving fry.

Yeah well we have both had these in our tanks for ages, and well mine especially survived by swimming at the top of the tank! So, personally i dont think that is the reason.

I doubt they've suddenly become infertile, they must've worked out where the fry hide & have eaten them

I would suggest more hiding places and plants, like java fern and moss. Even try setting up an 'overstock' tank for ones that you want to sell, or a fry tank that only has adult females ready to drop and plenty of hiding spots.

I have had the same problem. The only thing i could think of is my pump moves the water around the tank rally fast and the guppys are almost always batteling against the current. I have put a plant in front of the outlet and the water is calmer and the guppys seem a lot happier now.

One of my platys just gave birth. I know this because she is skinny again. I havent found a baby.

Livebearers are great babymakers. They aren't such great parents. Pretty much all birth is to them is a natural vending machine. Pop out fry, oooohhhh a SNACK!

I've had that happen too, large boxy fish one night, next morning she's slim & not a fry to be seen

Thankyou so much everyone for your replies! appreitiate it, they all seam to be back to normal now..
