Definately the personality! Every single one of my bettas has been unique and different in how he or she acts. My goldfish have always been the same; they just clammor around looking for food. My algae eater has no personality at all; he just hides in his cave all day. And the snails... well... you know. Of all the fish I've owned, which isn't very many at all, only the bettas have gotten me with those awesome personalities. I don't care if they are the ugliest color, with the rattiest fins; they are all wonderful.

i have no idea why i am addicted to these fantastic fish. :dunno:
i have kept hundreds of species of fish for over more than 30 years and never had a psssion like this.
in 4 months i have got over 25 bettas and 2 spawns.
i can't help but sit in the fishhouse and stare at them. they know who i am, dance, nod for food and just generally brighten my day, no matter how i feel or how tired i am from work.
i'm  with them.

That is SO lovely!!!!!!!
Thank you.......... I just love hearing people talk about their fish like that. Keith, I am so happy that you are happy!!!!!
In England with spawns......... very interesting too!!! If you need someone to take some let me know. I'm after crowntails more than anything right now!

Where else could you get so many different fin types, colors, and personalities?
I love my little guys for so many different reasons. The way they come to the front of their tanks when they know it's dinner time, the way they can be so lazy one minute and zipping around like a madman the next, the flaring, the way their fins shimmy and wave as they swim around, the happy dance, and the way some (but not all) of mine will actually let me pet them. I just love 'em all!

*other
The results you get from taking care of them.

They respond to you differently when you take the time to get to know them individually, you don't get that with most fish...mostly because they are kept in groups.

Not very conveniant like having fish in a ten gallon with a filture. The smallest filture i have found was 5 and it would kinda depress me having a 5 gallon and just a betta in it. And maybe a snail. When i could have maybe 3 female guppies.

Imagination. Determination. Relaxation.

Funny how a 22 gallon doesn't need anymore "frequent" waterchanges with 8 betta's in it...then a 22 gallon community tank with mixed fish does  .

XD I, personally, just like them for their PERSONALITY! ^^;

Hehe, the word "personality" reminds me of the 'Cheez Whiz' commercials.... :)

No, REALLY, my Bettas have SO MUCH personality; Mr. Wimpy Fish is just so RANDOM, because he likes to flare at a random point in my closet behind his tank. XD I haven't judged exactly WHAT he is flaring at yet, but y'know.

And, wells, he ALSO flares at the fish in the big 10-gallon tank beside him; I think the platys MAY look a little bit like Bettas to him, so I think that THAT'S why. XD

I love their little pug faces, the way they swim to meet me at the front of their tanks, my first betta Jack a red VT sits next to me while i watch tv (in his tank of course!!) if i dont feed him before i sit down to have my breakfast he does a little 'dance' to remind me he is there!!!
Mikey is an old blue & pink VT who lays on his leaves all day, lazy boy!!
My baby boy Kai-Lan is a red, blue & little bit white CT who races round his tank like a looney!!!
Then i have the girls who's personalities i am still learning!!!
Even the Betta Imbellis i have in the community tank pay me more attention than the community fish, there is definatly a higher intelligence in Bettas than any other fish i have kept!!

I like them because of their personalities, they have there own individual personalitites and i love that about them also there beautiful appearance! :D
