I have had these Cabomba caroliniana in my tank for just over 2 weeks and they are turning white and dying ?

Any idear's ?

Ph: 6.4ppm - 6.6ppm
Temp: 27.5C
Co2 3bps
Fertiliser - Tropica Plant Nutrition + I dose 6ml once a week

Edit:
I say dying They grow aprox 2-3 inch a week but still have dying parts if that makes sence.

Or is this just the way the plant grows ?

Make no mistake about it, Cabomba is a high light plant.

What lighting do you have on the tank compared with its dimentions?

If I were you I'd dose the TPN+ in smaller amounts daily rather than a larger amount weekly.

Hi thanks for your reply,

The Tank is a Rekord 60 (60 litres)
My Lights - 2 x 15 watt T8 power-Glo (18000 K)(With reflectors) inwhich I have on for 8Hrs a day
The top of the plant seems to be fine, it's just the botttom inch or so, Perhaps the light is not getting down there ?

Thanks for the advice Steveread,

I am going away tomorrow for a few day, when I return I will start to dose daily...

Cabomba is a highlight plant, make no mistake about that????

It's not a highlight plant...It can be grown under almost any light. I, and many other have grown this under less than 1wpg. I grew this under a old strip light in my old 60l. Most plants don't need highlight, they just grow quicker under highlight (with the other elements).

It would be handy for a photo, then we could see what the plant's missing. Steves advice seems a good idea for the time being.

Hi again Thanks for your advice, I have just arrived back and started to dose TPN + daily now, So I just have to wait to see if it cures the problem ?

Here is a pic as requested.
(Not so bad on this plant)

Also can I ask when would be the best time to add the TPN + ? ie, how long befor or after lights/co2 comes on !

Thanks.

They look like roots to me, not dying sections. Cabomba can root all over the plant (not sure why, i'm not that knowledgeable about it). So your plants are actually fine (if I am indeed correct about the roots)

Frogmarch is right about the root and the plant looks fine to me. I will just ask, has the plant got the lead or pot still around the bottom?

Thanks for the confermation ianho, and no the lead has been removed.

Going back to the other question about dosing. Is there a specified time I should dose or dose it not matter. If you know ?

Thanks again.

I normally dose in the mornings before I go to work, when Im not at work normally a couple of hours before the lights come on.

Ok Cool.

I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill here! Lol.

Edit:
Can I ask one more thing ?

My Cabomba caroliniana is growing very quick under the lights/Co2 etc 2-3 inches a week, but even though they are growing quick they dont seem as bushy or as Green when bought them.
Any idears why this is ?

if you want to bush em out a bit, you need to start nipping the tops off. As for the greeness i personally would add some iron suppliment in the tank.

Hi Ianho, what are your thoughts behind this? Is it mixing prior to light coming on and stimulating growth, or...?

thanks! WD

hey WD, i only dose before the lights come on because from what i have read on the Barr Report. Due to plants reaching there peak intake of macros and micros at (don't quote me on this) around 4-6 hours after the lights come on. I also find that if i dose, say an hour after the lights come on the plants don't appear to pearl as much and as you'll know pearling is good.
