i've tried telling him that only little kids have goldfish, but he doesn't really care.

i've read that gold barbs are fine without a heater, and that they are often kept in unheated aquariums. are any of the dwarf corries ok in these conditions?

Gold barbs come under sub tropical i think which means they can go to lower temperatures than normal trops but you really dont want to go any lower than 20 degrees. A heater that is over worked e.g. on all the time should cost no more than a few lightbulbs depending on the wattage. at 22degrees though it should barely really come on.

the cories should be able to go down to about 22 degs C. i would use the heater but keep it set at 22 degs and this shouldnt cost alot and will keep it at a good temp for the barbs and ok temp for the cories.

npwmoving on to a subject we havent already cleared...

hoprfuly this will show a pic below of my gold barbs (its a little bit bad, but hey it was my first tank shot) mine are little pigs! they event eat any algae on the tank and one of mine had internal blleding because he coudnt swallow the pelet for 2 days! i think hes fine now, mouth a bit swollen, look like a fish with oversized lips

its worse than i thought, this one is actually the ugliest of mine, his genes make him have a really steeped out face and he has a wierd topfin, they normaly look like yellow submarines and IMO cannot die!

yeah he is very pretty, he and his 5 girl friends (i think, guy said they were babies when i got them 3 weeks ago idk he could just be the oldest) are fun to watch, his head turns yellow when hes in the mood dont know if thats normal or not

p.s oldman,how big is that gold barb? the one of th ones i have is now 4" hes real big compared to what i hear there uppsed to be at 3" tops?!
