We name out tetras and my wife has named the pleco. I guess I should name my angel fish as they are distinguishable although they really weren't when we got them. It's kind of hard to name 10 tetras that all look alike.
I name my fish, makes it easier for me and the GF to identify them, we have;
Betta; Dorian Grey.
Loaches; Pugwash, cabbage, zebby, noodles, stig, scooby, mick and spotty.
Plecos; Fungus, fathead and tigger.
Gourami; Tuco, dega, peaches, iggy, germ, giblet, ratbag, sylvia.
1 of my minnows is called Frank due to his blue eyes, the rest of my shoalers get called fish...
To date, I've really only named two of my fish. I used to have a Pacu (probably my favorite fish ever), whom I named Jaws because she, um......ate everything else in the tank. I used to hand feed her veggies and meats, you could even pet her (though I only did this rarely). Not to mention she was one huge fish.
My second fish kinda has a name. He's a Red Hook Silver Dollar and I just call him Red Hook. The Red Hook doesn't have the personality the Jaws had, he pretty much just has a name because he's the biggest fish in the tank at the size of a plate, and therefore somewhat of a conversation piece when someone comes over.
i name only the fish i realy love, i have 2 oscars and 3 electric blues the oscars names are cheech and chong, and my electric blues are called, ty, sarah, and fames
My kids name them, then change their mind, we just bought a bristle nose and my eldest christened him 'Camoflage' as he blends into the objects, I suggested 'loghead' it got turned down. There is also another fish the middle lad has named 'Juggles' but he changes which fish it is daily and we are supposed to know which one he means. I just call them 'fishface' or 'pesky pesci'. I am not very original you see.
