Who, like me, doesn't always buy the

Rob G- the easiest fix would be to purchase a piece of 3/4" plywood (18mm?) and cut it slightly larger than the footprint of your tank. Then place it on your current improvised stand. The weight of the tank will keep the plywood in place while the plywood will prevent the glass from becoming stressed. You can even stain the plywood the same color as the table you have the tank on. Plus they sell rolls of tape with a fake woodgrain design on the back to stick around the rough edge of the cut plywood to simulate a table edge.
This can be done for under $25 US and about an 30 minutes of work.

A stand isnt hard to build i would have if i hadnt got a metal file cabnet for 10$ and it holds my 55g fine.. my 20g is on sum weird box things my dad made in the 80's and it hold up fine to

lol i have my first 29g on a "proper" stand, my 2nd one is on my dresser, my 20 or 25g tall is on my night stand, my 5g is on my desk! lol

my first 10 gal is on the proper stand with my 5gal minibow on the shelf underneath. my 1 gal are no the hutch over my computer and my 2nd 10 gal is on my kitchen island.

i have tanks on every available surface in the house. desks, end tables, kitchen counter, 2 tv stands, dressers, and one very odd looking table with eagles as legs given to me by a friend. i only have 3 on store bought stands. but make sure the ENTIRE frame is supported evenly. use a level too. i had a 56 gallon literally explode at 2am. it's not pretty.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I have a question. I have a 30g on a very strong stand but the back and front of the tank hang over less than 1/4 inch on both sides. The frame of the tank barely sticks out.
I've had it like this for about 5 months. Should I worry?
