Who Do I Report A Bad Pet Shop To?

After reporting the shop to the council and a few e-mails and letters fired off, I am pleased to report that the shop has lost its licence to sell live stock. All the fish, turtles and other reptiles had been removed, unfortunately I do not know where they have gone, but they were removed by the council. All the hell hole tanks have been closed down and the back of the shop is now boarded over and he is not allowed to keep livestock to sell. It took time but at least no more fish will suffer in this shop.

Yyyyyiiiiiiiiippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee

WELL DONE!!! :good:

Places like this should be closed down.

As regards your comments on RSPCA, I've found out they are uninterested in most cases and their attitude is quite apalling in many cases. I remember a case of reporting a dog that was drowning in the river Tees. The RSPCA telephonist just said 'maybe he's just gone for a swim'. Thankfully a member of the public saved it. Anyway that's why I stopped my monthly donation to the RSPCA and instead donate to PETA instead.

Well done for closing it down :good:
RSPCA have no power, and no interest in anything other than fluffy things.

Good, This is the correct way to go.
THe RSPCA are a Joke when it comes to anything other than furry.
Pet Licencing is the people to report LPS and LFS's to, as they control whether or not they are allowed to sell animals/fish/reptiles etc.

I agree the RSPCA is useless when it comes to anything that isn't furry. I was actually thinking about it the other day, that fish are VERY low down on the list of priorities for most animal welfare related orgs.

Really glad your efforts got their lisence removed though! :good: that's fab - there should be more people like you in this world. I wonder how many other people thought about doing something but couldn't be bothered and just boycotted the place...

Well done that's a brilliant response!!!!

I've never had a good experience with the RSPCA cant fault the SSPCA though, when they cant help they point you in the right direction to ensure a fast outcome.

They even rehome fish for crying out loud, when i rescued Rocky they had two goldfish for rehoming that they had rescued from a tiny tank and told me that they would only rehome into a pond. Brilliant people.

I would talk to the city council. Go to one of their meetings, or just get to know some one on the council, so they can help make what you say possibly go into effect.

..It was a success betta boy :good:

I'm sorry. I only read the first post when I posted. I didn't look at the date either. Then after I posted I started to read it and then, when I read the success post, I got real embarassed. I'm sorry, lol.

Thats great news to hear they got shut down.
Well done on your good work :)

WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone, It just goes to prove that these places can be closed.

No doubt a certain charity will now be interested in taking the owner to court and raising some publicity????

Seriously though well done on a good result! Now can PFK cover it to try and persuade some other shops to take welfare more seriously?

Congratulations, you should be really proud of yourself for what you have done, hopefully all those sick fish have gone some place they will be looked after...as for the shop, I hope theyre ashamed, shame theres not been a piece in the local paper about you taking a stand!!

As for the rspca, im sickened. Just because fish dont have fur, it doesnt make them any less pleasurable to keep, less of a pet, more so less of a deserving life. I to have had a bad experience with them, I made the mistake of going there for my work experience with school - 14 years on, I am still scarred from the experience.

Well done, am so glad the council took notice and did something, your a star!!!

YAY! Well done, great result :D

i 100% agree with you hollanda88

and wasn't defending the rspca just stateing

lol, good good. I just didn't agree with the under funded part, they have built a new head quarters worth millions of pounds for no real reason

They would be a good organisation if, as people have already said, they wern't speciesist and only focused on the flagship species like the poor little horses that was tied up in the filed for a day without water. Don't bother about the millions of fish that live in cups of tea

They don't do horses either, there's another charity for them don't you know?
I once bought 2 kittens from an independent animal shelter. They were dead within a week from feline enteritis :( I reported it to rspca and she said 'if we had £1 for every cat from there that's had enteritis!' They had no power whatsoever to stop the woman taking in cats from the street, and infecting them with this disease which they almost inevitably die from. They didn't seem to even care either. The woman knew what she was doing too :(
