White Spot

Hi Giys,

Advice please.

I have over the last weekend introduced some new Harlequin Rasboras (x5), 2 x female Guppies and 3 x Cardinals to my aquarium. Everything seemed to go fine and they looked fine and were interacting and feeding well.

Yesterday, I noticed that our male Sunset Platy had a single white spot on it's side. On closer inspection of the other fish, it appeared that the Rasboras also had some white spotting around there mouths.

I immediately treated them with King British Original Formula WS3 White Spot Terminator medicine.

Overnight, the white spot on the Platy seemes to have gone, but there are still signs of white mouths on a few of the Rasboras.

Questions:

1. Could the newly purchased Rasboras have brought the White Spot into the tank?
2. Is it likely that the white spots on the mouths of the Rasboras are indeed White Spot or could it be something else?
3. Should I continue with the White Spot treatment and if so for how long? and;
4. How much of a water change should I do once the treatment has been completed.

I can confirm that I don't have carbon filters in the filter unit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1) Possibly. Whitespot is often brought on by stress, and being put into a new tank has gotta be quite stressful.
2) Couldn't say, to be honest.

I find the WS3 to be excellent for White Spot. Give them their full course of it and it should clear up, if not a second course will certainly do the trick.
I know that WS3 is a parasite treatment so if your fish have any other diseases im unsure what else you could use im afraid
