When I bought my HM male last October, he was solid white.

Here he is in:

October

December

February

Late March

Yes, the algae is CRAZY. That betta is high-strung and even routine tank cleaning sends him into a state. The algae is gone now, lol, only he wouldn't cooperate when I tried to take his picture.

Is this common? Is he a marble-type betta? I assume he's going to continue changing color. It'll be interesting to see how he turns out.

One of my males started off like this

Now he has no orange on him at all, I'm waiting to see what happens next, marbles do change their colours, makes them very interesting

i LOVE this male!!

I brought a pure white HMPK, when he got to me *3 days later* he had some pale blue splodges, a few months later was practically pure deep blue *hes the betta in my avi ;)*

I loved the orange on him when I bought him.
His tail has gone a bit whiter now.
Wonder what colour he'll be next, will try & get a decent pic of him as he is now

When you bought your betta, he may not have been fully grown. Sometimes it does take a while for their full colors to show. He is a beautiful boy though :)

Cazgar, I'm JEALOUS! I nearly died when I found a solid white betta at Petco, so I snatched him and ran to the till as fast as I could! I don't love him any less, of course, now that he's turning red, but I will admit to being a smidge disappointed. Regardless of color, that fish is touched in the head, lol. I've never had a special needs fish before

I must admit he's my favourite, he's very feisty & always flares at me, hope he stays that colour but time will tell
