One of my adult platies have white, flurry stuff on the back of his dorsal fin. I didn't notice it until today, but he was unwell for some time already...

I suspect it's a disease caused by dirty water. What is it and how can I treat it (without a hospital tank)? ALL HELP IS GRATEFUL! THANK YOU!

Sounds like fungus to me -_-

I've never had any experience treating fungus, so I can't give you much info other than that. I'm sure someone else with more experience treating fungus can help you out.

Then u'll have to treat the whole tank. But first, do a check on the water parameteres. N do a water change, like may b 20-30%.

I don't know what treatment u can get in HK cos I only started this hobby when I came to England. I hope the people in ur lfs can help u out!

Just remember to take out the carbon, or UV lights etc before the treatment. Good luck~
