Hi,

Our tank has now been running for about 6 months, its been pretty plain sailing so far, and we have slowly increased our stock to the level it is now at, and we do not plan to introduce anymore fish.

It is a Juwel 125l internal filter

Stock:
5x WC Minnows
4x Keyhole Cichlids
4x Yellow Labs (most recent introduction, and from fry, but growing rapidly)
1x Siamese fighter
1x Bristle nose
1x Chinese flying fox
And 4 assassin snails

Current readings
  • pH 7.8
  • Ammonia 0ppm
  • Nitrite 0ppm
  • Nitrate <5ppm

It is getting 5 hours of light a day, and it is full of plenty of live plants. Water temp is maintained at 25 degrees.

Tapsafe is used, but aside from that no chemicals have ever been added to the tank.

Food wise, they have a frozen cichlid block, and a small amount of flake each day, which is eaten rather quickly.

Water changes were frequent to begin with, in line with water test results (we were testing the water every day because it was a new tank), but now all is settled we are doing 25% once a week.

One point to note is the filter was accidently turned off overnight about 2 weeks ago, but the readings have remained static since then.

Now, one of our minnow has developed this. It is still behaving normally, eating, toileting etc.

(We have learnt filming is far easier than trying to take a pic!)

(Vimeo link is the same clip but willl be better quality. The downside is it is not live for about 30mins)

What should we do?!

Thanks in advance.

Bump :(

If you pause the video at 4secs you can see what we are refferring to in case there is any confusion.

Many thanks.

Cotton-like threads grow on the operculum (gill plate) or gill filaments Saproglenia fungal infection Treat with: Forma-Green -or- Acriflavine Neutral

Sorry didn't notice the last reply.
Glad it was only food and not strands of fungus.
