iw as wondering as to what the general opinion was on the best test kit is to use? i bought a freshwater api master kit on ebay (it said for marine in the header and i was in such a hurry i never noticed the box said freshwater!!!)

i have a 33uk gal tank. with the api kit i have found that the readings are-
ph-8.2
ammonia- 2-3 (i think-it didnt really match any)
nitrite-0
sg- 1.023 (measured with hydrometer)

i've no idea how to use the gh or kh tests as the instructions didnt come with the kit for these.

as the kit is for freshwater i'm not convinced of it's accuracy. anyone got an opinion of a good kit which doesnt cost a bomb? i have read that api is just as (if not more) accurate as far more expensive ones.

thanks guys

The only Test kits I use are Salifert - they are by far the best

The API Freshwater Test Kits are no use on marine

Hopefully you have no Ammonia Reading as this is deadly to all livestock

I really think you need to return your livestock & get your tank in some sort of order as you are going about this back to front IMO

as i said, the ammonia reading didnt actually match any of the colours on the scale. is the kit you use easy to use?

my fish seem happy and look healthy so the water doesnt seem to be so bad
