Hmm, knowing this, makes it even more frustrating! What you should know though, is that I am living in the south of the country, in the second poorest state...... Not many people can afford to have pets. What is sold most here, are goldfish (you don't need a heater, people don't use filters etc.) and livebearers, which are cheap. And the shopkeepers know very little about fish too, so can't offer anything special.
Ah. In that case I would import eggs, What a golden opportunity to spread a rare (even though common elsewhere) colourful fish,
I wish I lived much closer and I could get eggs to you more easily,
How is you postal system is it quick or can it take quite some time to recieve mail.
On the egg front I think you would be better going for
Africian or South American Annuals as their eggs can be incubated/rested in peat (diapause) for different lengths of time and would be more suited to arriving safetly.
Anyway see what your dealer turns up first and let me know how you get on

BigC, if there are subgroups of the Killifish Association here in Mexico, can you get me some contacts? I would love to get to know some people.

Yes, it is a pity you don't live closer! NOt only for getting fish to me, but I would love you to share your personal killifish experience with me! The postal system is not very reliable, but there is a large national network of good courrier services, such as Estafeta, Multipack etc. Yeah, a local shopkeeper in the Netherlands gave me that tip about importing eggs on peat. But do annuals really live very short? I hate to see my fish die quickly.....

No problem sharing personal experiences. "Just Ask"
Dont worry about annuals dying after 12-18 months you will have enough eggs by then if you adopt a mass spawning method of breeding.
I use 2 males to 4 females (only 1 male is used at a time and exchanged every 2 weeks for the other in a cycle)
You will have enough eggs both to maintain your strain and distribute swap or sell.
I'm sure you local aquarium/pet store will trade even for some food stuffs.
Your nearest AKA sub group would be Texas.
