I've just sadly had to give away my last clown loach (3 weeks ago) as all his companions have died of various outbreaks of whitespot over the past 18 months... :(

Now I'm experiencing an epidemic of trumpet snails. Must have removed 70 tonight alone! :sly:

I've been recommended to some of the smaller loaches already, but they seem to be pretty hard to find locally at the moment. Would any of the small species of puffers be suitable for my tank or would my angels long fins not appreciate this type of companion?

What other (easy to find) loach alternative should I consider?

Help!! :flex:

puffers are not a good snail solution, yes they'll eat them, but should not be part of a community. puffers are best kept species only. keep looking for loaches or just keep picking. there ARE snail killing chemicals out there, though i personally am not one for adding extra chems ot my tanks..............

Also, trumpet snails are your friend, they clean the substrate and do not harm your plants. If you have too many, simply vac some out.

Trumpet snails are not a good idea for puffers anyway as the shells are too hard, but the puffers would love your angel's fins. yum.

Just called in at my LFS on the way home and they happened to have a fully grown YoYo loach and a fully grown Zebra loach in.

Took them both so hopefully will keep the trumpet snails under control.
