Which Skimmer

I'm debating which skimmer would be best for me. I know the aquac nano would probably be better than the air lift. But the air lift is soo much cheaper and I would have to special order the aquac since my parents are not going to want to buy it online for me when they find it's 140$. Considering the aquac is about four times more expensive if I don't buy it online than the airlift should I save up for it and get it, is it really worth it? And one more thing, after reading I think it was rhysiboy's HOT skimmer bursting and spewing water all over, will the Aquac do this too, because if it might that might be the end of fish keeping for me until I move out of my parents house, though can HOB filters do this too, I've just never heard of them doing it?

skimmers aren't really worth it on nanos. If DOCs end up being a problem, large water changes can be performed so easily that a skimmer is un-necessary
