which are the best ways to introduce trace elements into the aquariums - using liquids or powders and which are the best brands to use.

Both work just as well, power versions I mix with RO water anyway to make a stock solution. The big difference is the price, dry ferts are a fraction of the cost, cos you don't pay to ship water all over the place. However, tropica plant nutrition is generally regarded as the best trace mix you can get but its only available in liquid form. If its a low-tech undemanding tank I would say get dry, if you're going high-tech with lots of demanding plants get the tropica one. Both can be bough from Aquaessentials.co.uk.
