I’m just wondering which water conditioner, plant food, fish food and anything else I might need, are the best ones to get.

Also does anyone buy the Pets at Home own brand stuff, if yes what’s it like?

Hope someone can please help, thank you for your time.

water conditioner- API is good as it lasts, interpet tap safe is good and lasts a long time!

plant food - if your in the UK go for TPN+ from aqua essentials but you may not need it depending on lighting etc.

fish food- aquarian, tetra, king british are all good, but feed a variety.

i dont use home brands, but proper branded stuff is normally considered best!

conditioner - Prime (but if you're buying a lot, compare the specs on pond conditioners as that's cheaper)

plant food - home-mixed, TPN+, Seachem, but plants are a whole 'nother hobby

fish food - TetraMin(yellow/brown container), many others, frozens, live food, etc.

I don't have direct experience but I'm afraid I'd be careful about big store branded.

test kit - API Freshwater Master Test Kit (very important for beginners)

knowledge - the Nitrogen Cycle (see pinned articles here on TFF) essential!

water change techniques - (see articles or threads here) essential!

~~waterdrop~~ :)

conditioner - i use pond conditioners

plant food - I use the pets at home plant food and it seems to do the job although i have no comparison as thats all i have used lol

fish food - feed a mix of the branded ones with live foods

I work in pets at home and have never had anyone complain about own brand fish stuff but i don't have much experiance with using them

test kit - API Freshwater Master Test Kit, or other liquid test kits that have ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph
