Which External Filter To Buy?

Thinking going exteranl but was wondering which to buy its for 30 gallon tank its between the following;

1. Fluval 205
2. Eheim 2213 Classic
3. TetraTec EX700

Advice and experience will be helpful

Personally I'd go eheim, I've used a few eheims and highly recommend them and with german build quality you are guaranteed a reliable, long lasting filter. But I'd go with the 2215+ or the 2217+ rather than the 2213, better filtration and also have the option of using them on a larger tank should you ever upgrade. I currently run a 2217+ on my 33 gal tank.

I'd rule out the fluval 205, have a bit of a reputation for leaking, think its a bit of an intermittent problem but they dont seem to have the same good reputation as the fluval internal filters have.

I've heard a lot of good things about tetratecs although never used one myself.

I guess it comes down to price, if the tetratec is well cheaper then go with that but if its around the same price as eheim then I'd go eheim all the way. I got my 2217+ complete with hoses, taps and sponge media for about £80

id choose eheim aswell from experiance. ahh the germans, engineering masters, cars firearms and now filters they never cease to amaze me.. so efficient

Yeah Im thinking about going with eheim the reviews seem to be good think ill order one off ebay may be the 2215+. My dad has a classic one which he used to use years ago for a 6ft tank but he lost interest in tropical and went to Koi. Soon as I bought my fish tank he bought the same after saying he would never do it again soon as i think about using his old external he says he using it! #40## him.

I had an Interpet external for my 250L tank which was crap! Struggled with it for a few years because I couldnt afford a new one but recently it died on me so I had to invest in a new one! I bought a Fluval which im really impressed with, good performance, easy to clean and very quiet.It comes not only with a booklet for setting it up but also with a DVD which was a bonus, and so much easier than trying to work it all out from diagrams. Just switched on the DVD and did it step by step by pausing the DVD!

Ordered a Eheim 2215+ today cant wait for it to come just hoping i dont have to adapt the tank to fit the hoses through the stupid trim going around fluval romas.
