Which Cycle?

Managed to get some bio-spira. Has anyone used it before and/or know the best tank specs to have when it is used? Temp? Water stats? The shop owner assured me that he had it shipped straight from Marineland in cold packs, so no middle man. He has had it for about 5 or 6 months and says Marineland states a refrigerated shelf life of 4 yrs.

Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

I'd probably follow the directions that come with it. Lacking that, what I seem to recall was that people treated it like putting mature media into the filter.. I seem to remember posts saying they maybe dumped the whole thing into the middle of their filter media and then ran their tank as if it was a fishless cycle, testing and seeing how quickly the resulting biofilter could drop 5ppm of added ammonia down to zero ammonia/nitrite to test the power of the biofilter.

Hey waterdrop, directions are basic.....pour entire contents into 30gal or smaller tank. I use aqueon filters so no media to speak of. It does have a carbon filter pad installed now to rid any leftover meds.

If no one else has any info, I guess I'll just pour it in the tank and let the filter suck it up.
