Where's Status Updates?

Can't update my status anymore, was this taken off?

The mods and admin removed status updates as some members were using it inappropriatly. They said that some members were abusing the feature. I don't know the specifics.

I believe some people were using the forum and the status bar to advertise so it was removed a few weeks ago.

This is correct. The status update area is a lot harder to police because new content there doesn't show up anywhere. At one point about 6 weeks or so ago, I went through all the status updates back to the start of the year, and caught 8 spammers and an advert for a competing forum. We had no choice really, and we're sorry we had to do it, because we know quite a few people used it a lot. As usual, it's a minority spoiling things for the majority.

Following you off-topic, TT, but I would like to share that I went to Bruges last February, and had Belgian waffles, coated in hot Belgian chocolate sauce. OMG+½, that was taste heaven.

^^  That's a good idea as I had noticed mines was gone a few weeks ago and it was very annoying that a few inconsiderate people have to ruin it for everyone else.

I understand how hard it is to moderate, we occasionally have the same issues with our status update plugin on our gaming forum, but usually the regulars catch it in time and it's taken care of promptly. This is a real bummer, but it's ok, you all are still awesome. The General Discussion will suffice.

Mostly though we want people here on the forum talking and not on FB. For me FB and Twitter are ways to tell people about the forum and get them to come here.
