My Penguin 330 came with an optional extension tube that places the strainer closer to the bottom of the tank. The way I have it set up now is without the extension. Which would be the best position for this to achieve optimum filtering?

Does that help get rid of the debris faster whenever your stir your substrate?

I guess it would work quicker. I vacuum my susbstrate when it gets cruddy. If you don't place your intake as low as you can, you won't get a lot of water movement in the lower regions of the tank.

i usually have mine about the middle, but its everybodys preference, i guess if you have an undergravel filter you might wanna put it in the middle, but nonetheless its your own preference
