Lol I'm read to just go abng my head agaisnt a wall LOL. We've looked everywhere for the stuff. The best we've managed is cloudy ammonia, that is absolutely stuffed with scents etc.

So I live in Australia, where can i find ammonia? Or could I just like stick one of those holiday fish feeder blocks in there?

This thread is about where to get ammonia from around the world:

ps. Go to the fishless cycling link in my signature and follow the add & wait method. Simplest method ive read so far. Also whilst youre waiting for you tank to cycle read all the faqs at the top of this forum and the tropical chit chat one.

:good:

Incidently, if you already have a mature tank set up (your signature) why are you fishless cycling?

Its a new tank, for a science experiment basically. Plus I cant use whats in my 20g as it just got hit with some type of bacteria, so far only one fish is affected but dont wanna harm anything.

Thanks for the link

Emma

Well just in case you're lazy like I am.. (yes too lazy to click a link with your finger :p rofl)

I got ammonia at a hardware store. I live in the US though, but I don't see why a hardware store anywhere else would be much different :D
The bottle I got though was HUGE (only thing they had), but only cost 3 dollars.

I know this is going to sound disgusting, but someone actually suggested to me that you could use urine! NOT something I've tried, but if you can't get amonia anywhere else, it might be worth a try?! Personally I'm going to be pinching some gravel off a neighbour, I don't fancy peeing in my fish tank!

go to Ebay and do a search for 'KLEEN OFF' this is a household brand of ammonia. i got mine off ebay - quite cheap too! i hopr this helps.

regards

sean

we are told not to over feed our fish because any feed that goes uneaten quickly rots and turns into ammonia. when i do a fishless cycle i just feed the water with flake food. it soon turns into ammonia and feeds the bacteria
