Where Do You Buy Sand?

I prefer sand to gravel and wanting to know where you buy sand for your tanks from?

Im doing this tank on a (very small) budget! so its an as and when i can afford it basis

Is kids playsand ok?

Playsand is fine. Wash it really really well. Argos, Homebase, Tesco, Asda, etc...

ded excited about my new tank now

oh - the tank is 30 inches long and 12 inches deep

bags of 10x kg - how many would i need - i have no idea of measuring?

or even 25kg bags?

Nice whitish sand in tesco £4 for two bags at the moment....

I got mine from homebase - it's more of a 'stone' colour, although it was a different bag to what they have on there website.

There was a good 3 different bags at my homebase though so accidently on purpose opened the bags and had a little look see

anyone know how many bags of either 10kg or 25kg to fit my 30x12 tank?

Probably more than 10kg, depends how thick you want it really. I'd get the 25kg and save any leftovers for top ups (some invariably gets sucked up through vacs), or setting up another tank
