Yes more than likely good luck, it wiped my whole tank out of neons, black neons, harlequins, and livebearers.

I didn't know harlequins and livebearers can get, do you look for the same signs in them too?

it's about 2 years ago now and you forget, i know alot of them bloated up, and if think there colours faded on the others fish but not to the extent of the neon tetras.

Ok well I think I'm going to kill the rest too because they are getting worse too and after this weekend school starts so I won't have much time to do a full tank clean. What all should I do with the filter and live plants to clean them. Do I have to recycle the tank?

Are you sure before you take this action that none are going to make it as its sad, i do feel for you been there not nice at all, completely strip the tank down and sterlise everything even the sponges boil them a few times in the microwave, or even better to be honest buy some new ones.
I would start your tank of with a fishless cycle.

Buy a little tank for him for now, he shouldn't get it i think.

I'm not sure my parents will let me buy a tank for him since they have already said no to more tanks, would a half gallon tank be ok though, becuase I have one of those I used to use for water changes.

Yes that will be fine as long as you have an airstone, and a very small heater, good luck.
