I have 5 male guppies and 2 platies in my 40litre tank :) so far everything has been fine and I have had them all for about 3 months now, but the smallest blue one I chose because he was the last one left and he looked sad and he has a crooked back :/ he has had it since I got him, its bent almost like a banana :/ it hasn't seemed to bother him before but today he seems to be struggling to stay horizontal when he stops swimming he slowly goes up and his body is in a vertical position instead of horizontal is there anything I can do? is it a deformity and how can I help him?

I'm not sure, but just on case...
What are your stats?

Often times guppies get bent backs when they get old. It could be an older guppy. It also could have broken its back before and thats just how it healed.

Had same problem... Sorry to say but it also died.... :(

AW well my stats are nitrite 0 nitrate 2 ammonia 0 and the temperature is normal (24 degrees) I don't think that he is very old cos he has grown a lot since I bought him :/ I don't think there's much hope for him but we won't give up yet :)

Whoa, 2 ammonia? You need to do a large water change, ammonia is extremely dangerous for fish. Did you cycle the tank before you added fish?

Yes it was cycled but that was the day before they were due to be cleaned out and after cleaning I checked and ammonia is now 0.I do clean them out weekly although sometimes I can be a day or so late, I thought that 0 was the best and anything under 5 was alright but definatly not ideal :/
