Whats Wrong With My Gourami

Your nitrAtes seem a little high, when did you last do a water change? Also, it's hard to tell from the pics, but do there seem to be protruding scales?

About five days ago. No dropsy from what I can see.

Epson salts baths, bacterial med, and peas nothing else left to do sorry, if the fish is breathing heavy they don't usually make it, sorry.

Yes, I don't think it's looking very good. He isn't very active at all.

If it is a bacterial infection, can this cause problems to others in the tank?. I don't have a hospital tank, I think I will pull him out and put him in another container with an air line and light, try treating it and see how it goes. If it doesn't improve I may safely put him down.

Does anyone have a link for the kindest way of doing this (I have read it on here before I think).

I feel kind of slack for letting it get this far, but I have been in and out of hospital for days with the birth of my first baby - as much as I love the fish hobby, a $3.50 fish can't compete with my new little girl.

I bought a new 200lt Jebo tank a few weeks ago, just waiting for my brother in-law to come up with it and I will get it set-up and try again with some more Gouramis. They are great looking fish.

Let you know how it goes either way.

Every one has different ways of putting a fish out of its misery.
Some use clove oil.
I just get a bucket of very cold water add ice cubes till the water is really cold, add the fish is dosn't take long.

I've recently raised this topic in this forum. Have a look. Some good comments. I found from one of the links was putting the fish in a tub of water and adding an alkaseltzer like tablet. The CO2 released makes the fish pass out and then inevitably die :-(
