What's The Best Bet On Filter Flow

I have a 34l tank, where I have noticed the flowrate of the filter is slower than it used to be - I am presuming that there is a partial blockage somewhere. I don't think the flowrate is adjustable (it's an AquaOne, used with their overhead filter).

It was ideal when the flowrate was higher, because I have some hillstream loaches in there, who prefer fast moving water.

However, I have just had to move my Betta in to this tank, because he was suffering a little in the other tank. Obviously, he will prefer slower moving water.

So, my question is this do I sort out the pump/filter flowrate (the pump is rated at 400l/h, which in a 34l tank is a bit strong, IMHO), leave it as is (in which case, will the filtration suffer?) or do I sort the flowrate and do something else to minimise the currents within the tank (in which case, what?).

the flowrate of your filter will decrease as it becomes clogged with waste.......this is why we perform filter maintenance when the flow noticeably drops.

Concerning the flow and how it affects your fish, you have highlighted your main issue already. Hillstream loaches and bettas require very different flows, and are therefore not ideal tankmates. Can you not seperate them into different tanks?

He was in another tank previously, but was getting harrassed by some cardinal tetras, and was then flaring at pretty much every other fish, except for the Corys.
