a while back i posted i thought my plants wernt looking there best any more and asked if a wavemaker/powerhead would help, as i thought oxygen might be the issue, well now my plants are looking quite ropey, (see pics), all plants were tiny when bought and have grown well untill i got a bigger tank, hence why i thought oxygen, its a 300Lt and all fish are fine water stats 0ppm nitrite 0ppm ammonia and between 5 and 10pmm nitrate surface agitation by way of long spraybar and i do have a air stone but its not turned up too high, i cant really go down the co2 route as i have nowhere to put the equipment, nor would i understand how to use it, i do use TNC carbon (made by the nutrient company) as its supposed to act as a alternative to co2, lights are on 6-7 hours a day, its a T8 bulb, any suggestions,

Why are you complaining about lack of oxygen when plants need CO2 not oxygen. If you have too much oxygen then of course your plants will die as a resault of lack of CO2. You can fight this by using a CO2 system or getting rid of that air pump, the oxygen from the plants will provide for your fish.

im not complaining, im asking for advice, it was suggested on here that it might be lack of oxygen, plants are new to me hence the questions, that pump as you call it is very low, and gives the tinyiest flow of minute bubbles (for effect only) and considering the size of tank i wouldnt have thought it would have made a great deal of difference to be honest, the TNC carbon is suppose to be a alternative to co2, also recomended via here

I didn't mean to come over blunt sorry it just confused me is all. The airstone thingy is really not needed mate. If you have plants they'll be fighting over the air stone for oxygen anyway. The Carbon is fine for CO2 yea, but what other ferts do you use for the plants?

ive never used any ferts, the plants have always thrived untill now,

By adding Carbon you're giving them the opportunity to grow. Chances are they'll need plant food.

CO2 and Oxygen aren't always mutually exclusive in a tank. You're thinking of CO2 build up in a room....dissolved gases are different.
But you're right that airstones tend to give the opprortunity to gas off natural CO2 in the water....a bad thing generally.

the airstone is so low it gives the same effect of pearling, about 2 lines of teeny tiny bubbles could this really be doing all that damage? what sort of plant food do you suggest, is there one i can just put in the water without harming the fish and shrimp, i cant reach the bottom of my tank with my hand, its too deep so dont really want the type of fert you need to plant, my arms arnt long enough :)

Well if your going to carry on with the carbon then something like TNC complete or Neutro +. They wont harm anything and are dosed to the water column.

could i use that with or instead of the carbon? the write up on complete says ...plant food specially formulated for use in more densely planted aquariums, or for aquariums with few fish.....what would you call a few fish? i cant find any thing on neutro

Neutro+ is from aqua essentials, they both are ferts containing N&P which is needed if your dosing carbon as the carbon forces them to use up the N&P in your aquarium quicker.

righto thanks, i'll go have a google and invest in one or tuther :)

the nutro one has copper, i have shrimp, so i'll plump for the complete one, or at least i cant see copper listed on the ingredients on the complete

Well its not enough to affect shrimp, I have them and use it. :)

i have been using the TNC complete for a while now and the plants seem to be dying even quicker, any suggestions and help would be much appreciated

Are you still using Carbon and what the flow like?
