Well I haven't heard many good things about them, so was thinking of other brands. Like tetratec or the all pond solutions one

Wouldn't touch a fluval with a barge pole personally, unless it was the FX5, I'd go for a Tetratec ex1200, it leaves you set for future development then should you choose to go planted.

Reliable, built well, well priced, though I think you can get the Hydor ranger cheaper.

By future development I mean planted, where a higher flow rate is desirable.

Take a look at All Pond Solutions. I have 2 x 1000lph externals. There only £42.99.

Never had a problem with them. Great customer service, quick delivery, great product. I have a Tetratec ex700 too and I see no obvious advantages over the APS range. When I upgrade to my new tank I'm getting the APS2000ex with the built in UV for £62.99.

I bought my APS after many recomendations on this forum, and I wasn't dissapointed!!!

iv also had the aps one in mind too, as it is a very good price, what would you say the actual flow rate is init when its full of media? As it won't be the 1000lph it says, would you say more like 400lph?
