i dont see any reason why you cant use fittings that dont have an aquatic brand, but i would make sure they dont get close to water (even condensation) so as said previously, get a condensation tray or make one yourself.

Well my aquarium has a small glassy hood with a net in the middle. should i put the tubes above or below it?
