Just wondering as ive got 8 of them, 7 f which are the offspring of 1 & thinking of getting rid of them, local shop needs to know before they'll talk about a deal with me. This pic is of the dad, who's about 8 inches, maybe a bit more

Texas Cichlid.

And beautifull specimens by the look of it also! Also i wouldnt "give" them to shop, who will just sell them and keep the profit. Find them a loving home and list them here on the forum. People ALWAYS want bigger cichlids like this and will easily pay a tenner+ for them in the shops. So make yourself some money, and be assured you have found them a loving home and not just a fish shop ;)

Thanks for the info, now you've said it I remember!! Did have the big fellas wife as well but there was some domestic violence & she didnt make it unfortunately.

Also got 3 of these guys, each Oscar is about 10" I reckon. May look to get rid of them as well, but Cichlids first

Then there's a catfish, couple of 4-5" yoyo loaches & couple of reed worms as well

You say the cichlids first, your Oscars are cichlids also ;) I remember your post from last year sometime, you had water troubles didn't you? I recall seeing Wills helping you out, amongst other people. I assume everything was sorted in the end.

Seems a shame to be getting rid of such magnificent fish? Change in direction or are you leaving the hobby? :(

Sorry, yeah, the Texans first, then the Oscars.

Just looking for a change, plus with the offspring growing up im starting to think the tank is overstocked. Its 5 foot by 2 foot, 110 gallon, but I reckon there's 80, maybe 90 inches of fish in there now.

Think last year when I posted I was panicking really as new to everything, only lost one fish & that was through the violence, rather than a tank imbalance. Had the whole set up a year now and had some "moments" shall we say, but learnt to take a bit more time now & not rush into anything. Plus in various shops I get so much conflicting info it's untrue. My current water change schedule I got told by one place today was good, another said it was terrible, but its been fine for the year i've had it & several years before under the previous owner

I agree with James, don't just give them away to your LFS, these will definately be for sale for £15+ each fish at least. Advertise them on here and AC for what ever you think, even if it's a fiver, it's better to get a bit of money back to put towards a new project.

Depending on where you live, I could be very interested in the texans :)

:( shame, I'm inbristol

Ooo just googled it, it's not as far as I thought...
How much are you selling for?

Would you be after all 8?

Based on comment above of £15 per fish that's £120, but I don't expect that, so make me an offer?

Would you be ok transporting them though as it's a 2hr drive?

Plenty of buckets with lids on would be fine for a 2hr drive. You could also go prepared with some bag budddies also for the journey back to keep them a bit calmer.

Just for accuracy ...... they are not plain old texas cichlids, which are "green" texas cichlids (herichthys cyanoguttatus). Yours are the blue texas cichlids (herichthys carpintis), which are rather nicer looking, and more sought after.

A second that. It is for sure Carpintis. Normaly texas is synomnym with cyanoguttatus, I think. Isn't Carpintis also knows as pearl cichlid?

Amy, as I said above the figure of £120 was suggested as someone said they should be £15 a fish

Very much open to offers :)

Sorry about the random smiley, thatll teach me for trying to be clever with my iPhone!
