Fish Gatherer
Hi all,
I'm currently away from home 44 weeks out of the year (crazy I know), and so my fish tanks at home have been left in the care of my fiance.
Now the downstairs tank is no problem, its my large asian bumblebee Bob, who has become a family pet, with a definate personality (demanding/aggresive) over the years...
Upstais, my 3ft tank, is currently set up with good external filtration, is lit on timer, has a sand substrate, a few fake plands, bog wood, clay pots etc. as I am a big catfish fan, it contianed a variety of catfish, over the years, some have unfortunately died of old age, but there are 2 hoplos, one bristlenose, and one banjo, all fully grown, healthy etc.
Well, although my fiance likes all the fish, I think its probably a good idea for me to purchase some 'pretty fish' to occupy that tank, in order to keep her interested in it! (its either that or, break it down/get rid, which I don't want to do.
So, I know I have a LOAD of options, I'm probably going to go with guppies, or danios or similar. I.e. shoaling/swimming fish, that don't mind the lack of plant cover. I could add some water lettuce, but don;t want to add plant ,maintainance to her regime (seeing as she's been looking after them for 6 months now without complaint!)...
What do you guys think? and if you were going to introduce a shoal, what size would look most effective? The tank has been running for a few years now.
