What The?

In my tank (YES I KNOW, IT'S TOO SMALL, BUT AGAIN, IN THE SUMMER I AM REHOMING THEM TO A MUCH BIGGER TANK)
My two comets kind of nip at my filter, (which is a tube like thing that runs down into the water and sucks it up through the filter and back into the water) and nip at my little castle I have in there. It doesn't seem to injure them or hurt them, it's like there's invisible food stuck to them.

yeah, they do that in my feeder tank, they nip the algae off the foam.

True, you can't really see any, but maybe. I also did 25% a water change yesterday.

Algae will be present before you can see it. I'm sure thats what they are doing.

Goldfish definitely have a taste for greens so I would not be a bit surprised if they were nibbling algae whenever they can find a little.
