K so just got back from the LFS with 5 neons. They don't look terrific. Grr why didn't I get the qt tank. My dad decided to come with to look at the fish and told me I couldn't get it. so now idk what to do. I can put them with my fry but I don't really want to or I can put them in an empty 1/2 gallon bowl or I can use a makeshift plastic box with s sponge filter but no heater. Grr. What should I do?

If I used the box should it be ok without a heater or could I use those hand warmers?

Well I have the box set up with the tetras in it. The one that looked the worst died I may return them and go for the cardinals instead.

Well this morning I woke up to one more dead tetra. I've got 3 left and without a heater temps. Down to 71* notsure what to do. I guess I'll have to do a warm w/c or put them in my main tank. These 3 looked the best but still not great. I'm going to get the cardinals. I'll prolly return these. Would a heater burn a plastic box out of curiosity?

*update*
so 1 of the last 3 tetras looks like he's on his way out. I decided on a good method to raise the temp. Since I'm using a 7-up bottle filled with water to sink the sponge on the sponge filter in there, I filled the bottle with water at 86* and it was used like a heater and raised the temp. To a nice 77*. I guess that's what I'll use to heat the box till I return them.

another neon appears about ready to die. He's swimming vertically. Do neons school with cardinals? The other 2 look pretty good and wanted to know if they would.
